01
Open a parent issue
Open the Jira issue that you want to check, then open Estimate Gaps in the issue details area. The panel reads from that issue as the root of the visible hierarchy.
02
Review visible results
A completed result lists only items Jira returns through every visible parent link. An Original Estimate of zero is estimated, not a gap.
The panel can show visible estimated and missing counts, plus a rounded percentage, when Jira returns visible descendants. It does not promise every descendant or work hidden by access rules.
03
Edit the missing Original Estimate
Select a listed gap to open it in a new tab. Keep the parent issue open so you can return to the panel.
- Edit Original Estimate in Jira using your normal Jira permissions.
- Save the Jira issue.
- Wait for Jira to index the change.
- Return to the parent issue and select Refresh.
04
Refresh after indexing
Refresh starts a new read and clears the previous result while it runs. When Jira returns the updated estimate, the repaired item no longer appears as a visible gap.
Jira indexing and your current access determine what the next completed result can show.
06
Limits and access boundary
The scan accepts at most 2,000 visible descendants, 20 hierarchy levels, 100 Jira results per search page, and an 8-second scan deadline. The panel shows up to 100 safe gap rows.
The app reads Jira as the current viewer. It does not write Jira fields or save gap rows or hierarchy data.
